Frequently asked questions

Where are my records and photos stored?
Records, photos, ratings, notes, and settings are generally stored on your iPhone.
Will my records transfer to a new iPhone?
If you migrate to a new iPhone using Quick Start or an iCloud backup, Private Bite's records and photos are usually carried over as well. As an extra precaution, you can save an additional backup before migrating by using "Export Data" in Settings.
Can I use Private Bite after switching to Android?
Private Bite is currently available only for iPhone. An Android version is planned, but no release date has been set. At this time, Private Bite cannot be installed or used on Android, and its backups cannot be restored there. Compatibility between current backups and the future Android version is undecided, so restoration is not guaranteed.
What's the difference between restoring a backup and importing a CSV file?
Restoring a backup returns Private Bite to its original state using a complete backup file. Importing a CSV file uses the official template to add rows from an external spreadsheet to your existing records, without replacing anything. See Add records from a CSV file for the full steps.
Why does the app read photo location data?
It uses the location to suggest a restaurant, city, and country. GPS metadata is removed from the photo saved by the app.
Photos or location are unavailable.
Check the Photos and Location permissions for Private Bite in iPhone Settings. You can enter the city and restaurant manually when location data is unavailable.
